"M
        Y . Y A C H T" To Open MIPCOM 2003
 Producer/Star
 Not Allowed to Attend!
 Tom Wontner and Anna
        Neil in "My Yacht"
 by
        Dr. Susan Block Tom
        Wontner's HDTV comic romance "My
        Yacht" premieres at MIPCOM
2003 in Cannes on Friday, October 10 at 9:30 am. A wannabe
filmmaker named Ben, played by Tom Wontner (also the producer of "My
Yacht"), comes to the legendary Cannes
Film Festival, only to find himself constantly being turned away from
screenings and hotel parties. Desperate to impress Laura, the wannabe
actress/woman of his dreams played by Anna Neil, Ben pretends to be a
billionaire movie producer with a yacht. As so
often happens in Cannes, life seems to be imitating art with the opening
of "My Yacht," in that Wontner, the producer/star, may not be
able to attend it, even though he is coming to Cannes just for the occasion.
         "In
reality, I have not managed to get a MIPCOM pass," Wontner told the
Cannes Bla Bla, "I am broke having just produced this film!...I
will probably end up being turned away from the premiere of my own film!
How ironic is that?...When I spoke to Peter
Rhodes (MIPCOM International Sales Team Managing Director) about it,
he said, 'All producers want to get in for free, and we just can't allow
        it.'" There
are three High-Definition screenings of "My Yacht" in the 140
seat HDTV venue at the Palais (Auditorium K, Level 4). The first is on
Friday October 10th at 9.30am, then Sunday October 13th at 2.15pm, and
        finally Monday October 14th at 9am. Don't
miss it! And if you see a guy who looks like the fellow in the "My
Yacht" photo above hanging around the outside of the Palais looking
forlorn, you may want to lend him your MIPCOM pass so the man can enjoy
        his own movie. On second
thought, that could land you in more trouble with the MIPCOM bureaucrats
than pretending to own somebody else's yacht. If you're
going to MIPCOM, and you want more information about "My Yacht,"
